| Added support brings speed, print quality, and cost savings to the Mac market.
Setting an astonishing new standard for disc publishing, support for the Mac operating system has now been added to the GX-1 Disc Publisher. Microboards Technology, the leading manufacturer/distributor of disc duplication and publishing products, has introduced a software package that revolutionizes disc printing and recording on the Mac.
“Strong support for Mac users has been a longtime shortcoming in our industry”, said John Westrum, Microboards’ Chief Technology Officer. “The few solutions available in the market fell far short of user expectations, so we worked hard to produce a more user-friendly solution.” Among the unique capabilities in the new solution is the ability to design labels in standard software applications. Users can link virtually any file type to use as the label from the included recording software for automated, integrated publishing and recording.
Besides its durability and good looks, the GX-1 disc publisher is rapidly gaining attention for its output capabilities. Since its launch, internal and third-party testing have confirmed that the GX-1 wins in its class for cost-per-disc in ink, speed of print and print quality. “Microboards Technology is well-known in disc printing for our low ink cost. But the distinct gains in print time and print quality are so immediately and plainly visible with the GX-1, that users are quickly convinced of its overall superiority in the market,” says Westrum. “Graphics and text are distinct, clear and crisp. And our print time is up to 40% faster when compared with other desktop-type solutions.”
Microboards co-developed the Mac solution with Hewlett Packard, who also provides the print engine to the GX-1 publisher. “HP continues to be our most important partner in developing CD and DVD printing solutions” says Westrum. “Their expertise in inkjet printing, combined with our recording and dispensing patents, is resulting in products that impress everyone, from end users to industry experts.
Gains in print time and quality come in part from utilizing a new inkjet engine from HP, the improved handling of the disc under the print head, and HP’s new Vivera inks, which deliver brightness and durability for photo-quality printing.

| Curriculum Offers Music Production Essentials In Tandem With Goal-Oriented Classes In Songwriting, Film Scoring, Remixing and Arranging
Propellerhead Software has joined forces with Berklee College of Music’s online extension school, Berkleemusic.com, to develop four accredited certificate programs based on Reason. The programs are Propellerhead Software certified and mark the beginning of formalized education surrounding the award winning software. The certification will enable existing Reason users and those new to the software to gain an industry recognized certification with courses developed and taught by the renowned faculty at Berklee College of Music.
The four certification programs; Sound Design using Reason, Electronic Music Production using Reason, Music Creation using Reason and Music Production using Reason offers students a directed study plan that addresses practical approaches to music production, sampling, sequencing, sound design and arranging in various genres. The online courses enable students to study with Berklee College of Music’s production faculty and collaborate with other musicians and producers from anywhere in the world. In addition, Berkleemusic offers nine individual online courses using Reason and has taught over 5000 students worldwide over the past four years.
"This certification provides an excellent learning platform for existing Reason users as well as musicians new to the software,” says Barry Kelly, Director of Marketing, Berkleemusic.com. “Not only will they gain industry recognized proficiency but they will walk away from these programs with core skills and new music production techniques. Even if the design registrations of 6 subjects microphones are cancelled, the authorship belonging to Mr. Juris Zarins has been announced with the OHIM registrations to the third parties. These entries in the OHIM design register are still available and nobody has objected that the authorship to the subject 6 designs belongs to Mr. Juris Zarins. It means that in the EU the authorship with respect to these microphone designs are announced to the third parties and such information will be available as far these rights are in force. The cancellation of the microphone design does not affect the authorship announced to the third parties.
Such position is in conformity with general principles of copyright law in force in Latvia and also in the European Community. To obtain the right to use a work, it is necessary for the user of the work, for each type of use and each time it is to be used, to receive the permission of the rightholder to the use of the work. It is prohibited to use works if permission of the rightholder has not been received. Copyright and neighbouring rights objects protected in Latvia which have been imported from countries where such works are not protected by copyright or where the term of protection has expired shall also be deemed to be infringing copies.

Blue produces illegal copies of our microphones without any permission of the right owner. In spite of our several polite requests to stop the distribution of Blue microphones, which are illegal copies of our microphone design, they continue receiving and selling Blue microphones thus infringing our rights. We would highly appreciate to receive their comments or explanations about any reasons allowing them to sell such counterfeited goods.

RED Microphones has announced that they will begin to widen distribution of their products, making them available to brick and mortar retailers as well as other online music and pro audio dealers. This change in distribution strategy is a result of the acquisition of VintageMicrophone.com by California-based equity firm SEMA Capital Group, Inc.
Prior to its acquisition, VintageMicrophone.com had been the exclusive reseller of Red Microphone products, specializing in vintage microphone and related pro audio products, including microphones, hard-to-find replacement capsules and shockmounts, cables, custom storage solutions and more. VintageMicrophone.com will now become a wholly-owned subsidiary of SEMA Capital Group.
SEMA plans to expand the range of products and services offered at Vintage Microphone.com to evolve the specialized e-tailer into a high quality, full service online recording products retailer. VintageMicrophone.com will also remain a Red Microphone authorized retailer.
